Staffordhire Moorlands MGOC walkers and Charlie the dog
Club photo shoot April 6th 2008, 18 MG cars were on display for the visitors to Tittesworth Reservoir.
We formed after putting on a display of British cars in Leek for St Georges Day in April 2007.
A number of people, who either owned MG's or were enthusiastic of the marque approached us and asked, 'are you a club?'
So, in June 2007 we held our first meeting, where 15 people turned up and we gained official MGOC status (area 0514) in August 2007, a lot in just a few months!
In September we were interviewed by Ros Chimes from Radio Stoke and were 'on air' the following week. This is what she said about us on BBC Radio Stoke website.
'Mad about MGs by Ros Chimes'
A new club has started up - dedicated solely to local MG enthusiasts. Ros Chimes went along to meet some
members of the Staffordshire Moorlands MG Owners' Club...
They are old, a bit smelly and need a bit of a kick start in the morning... but for some people the MG is the
ONLY car to drive.
And out in the Staffordshire Moorlands, they love their MGs so much, they've started their own club.
Alan Simpson, who founded the Moorlands Club, said it was about the badge, the smell and the fact they
own an MG. They meet on the first Monday in the month at the Flying Horse pub in Leek.
Our Staffordshire Moorlands reporter, Ros Chimes, went along to meet them - to find out what's SO special
about MGs...
All MG cars are welcome from A to Z and everything inbetween including any variations of the MG marque. At the moment we have a varied selection of cars from a 1937 MGTA to a 2005 MGTF Spark.
